Your Questions Answered: Can DRM help hearing-impaired people?

Around 12 million people in the UK have some form of hearing loss and I am one of them. Can digital radio and DRM therefore be of any help to us?

(UK radio enthusiast)

Digital Radio Mondiale – DRM – is much more than simply compressed and economically transmitted audio on all frequency bands. DRM offers text on screens in parallel with, or on top, of audio. Therefore, DRM receivers with the capability of showing text in more than on one language is a real help to people with audio impairments. It is the first that news, emergency warnings, education can be delivered live or be cached for use alter by people with hearing disabilities. As we say, DRM is not only for all broadcasting frequency bands but for all, bringing benefits to everyone.

Our specialists will respond to your short and relevant questions about the DRM standard.
