- Question
As I attended the recent excellent RRI-DRM seminar, I want to know how much it would cost to start receiver manufacturing in Indonesia?

The first thing to underline is that an Indonesian or any manufacturer does not require a “DRM License” as no single company ‘owns’ the open DRM technology. Then it is also important that broadcasters and consumers do not pay any royalties to operate or receive DRM broadcasts. All IP royalties are included in equipment purchase (same as for all modern media devices: TV, phones, etc).
Any common IP royalty covers DRM, DAB+ (and IP streaming) multi-standard receivers. The DRM Consortium guarantees fully transparent DRM IP royalty handling as all rates are public and non-discriminatory.
