DRM South Africa’s Presentation at the Radio and Digital Sound Broadcasting Summit 2024

The DRM South Africa group made a significant impact at the 5th edition of the Radio and Digital Sound Broadcasting Summit held on June 18th and 19th, 2024. The event took place at The Venue in Sandton, Johannesburg and gathered industry experts from across the African continent to deliberate this year’s theme “Radio and Digital Sound: Using technology to deliver content listeners want”.

As a proud sponsor of the event the group emphasized the importance of the benefits of DRM as a digital transmission technology in their presentation titled; DRM – Connecting the Disconnected. “DRM is the only digital sound broadcasting technology that works in all frequency bands”; Mr Dreyer, the chairperson of the DRM SA group emphasized.

The highlight of the session was the showcase of a prototype DRM receiver that the group is building locally, using the DE9180 DRM 1000 chip developed by CML Micro and Cambridge Consultants. The unit will be housed in a 3D-printed casing that was also on display.
